protecting ourstags leap home

protecting our stags leap home

Guided by the eternal appeal of exceptional wine, Odette is built on a philosophy of land stewardship: We are committed to preserving our estate in the Stags Leap District for generations to come.

Our founders worked in tandem with architect Juan Carlos Fernandez to design Odette from the ground up with a focus on gaining Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification (LEED), in order to support Odette's ongoing land stewardship and sustainability goals. From sustainable site development and materials usage to energy efficiency and water management practices, Odette is proud to be a LEED Gold-Certified winery and to continue advancing efforts for company-wide environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

Odette's LEED Gold Initiatives Include:

  • Office, laboratory, and employee spaces built from recycled shipping containers.
  • Concrete made from 30% recovered fly ash.
  • Perforated aluminum panels to provide natural climate control inside the winery.
  • 2,500 square feet of solar panels to generate renewable electricity.
  • Naturally temperature-controlled caves and winemaking space.
  • Thermoregulated fermentation tanks to ensure precise fermentations and climate control
  • Structural polycarbonate paneling to reduce the need for internal electric lighting.
  • A rainwater-fueled irrigation system.
  • Electric vehicle charging stations.
“There is no hiding the fact that this is a production building, with that said we always considered the human scale of the project and the use of natural light and ventilation. We want the people who use this building to feel a sense of lightness.”

“We believe in the importance of organic farming and green initiatives to better ourselves, our property, our wines, and the community we love. Every decision is a long-term decision based on what’s best for the land and the generations to come.”

& Timeless Wines

Across our 45 acres of vineyards, we employ the traditional organic farming practices. From natural fertilizers to cover crops, the vines at Odette are cultivated without harsh chemical additives to ensure our wines are complex, multi-faceted reflections of our terroir.
Since our founding, every Odette Estate wine has been made with organic grapes. Today, we are proud to utilized California Certified Organic Farming (CCOF) methods to ensure our wines meet exacting standards beneficial to both human and environmental health.
